This event takes place two times a year – in the Spring and Fall. Our community members are encouraged to bring everything from that blouse they never wore, to the dish towel that cleaned its last plate.
The items collected will be sorted into different categories and taken by several organizations; for example: children’s clothing and bras go to Children’s Community Closet; blankets, towels, etc. are taken by an animal shelter.
Volunteers are asked to perform any of the following tasks: set-up, collection, sorting, photography, take-down.

Seed Exchange
Saturday, April 11th, 2026

La Grange Public Library
La Grange
Held in the Spring, the Seed Exchange is an opportunity to bring community members together to share seeds and advice.
Volunteers are asked to help with set-up, talk to guests, and take-down. If you are an avid gardener, or want to become one, this is a great volunteer opportunity.

La Grange Park Public Works, The Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (The CHaRM Center) and GGGLG volunteers work together in this event to collect electronics that will be taken to The CHaRM Center in South Holland, IL.
Functioning and non-functioning IT-related electronics will be responsibly disassembled and recycled. Some examples are: laptops, flat screen monitors, cables and accessories, Hi-Fi speakers, video games, and cell phones. The list is extensive.
The tasks for volunteering at this event include: directing traffic, receiving electronics, and possibly some clean up.

Sandal & Shoe Event
Saturday, June 6th, 2026
10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
La Grange Public Library
La Grange
Each Summer, we accept shoes and sandals (in the Fall, we collect shoes and boots). Footwear can be in any condition; from brand new to on its last leg. We even accept singles.
Footwear that is still in good condition is displayed on tables for the community to browse and hopefully find something they would like to take home. We also reach out to local charities to see if they have any current need.
Footwear that is no longer usable is also accepted and sent off to be recycled into other products.
This is a very interactive event with the community. Tasks include: setting-up, accepting footwear and putting it out for the community to browse, fulfilling requests for charities, and clean-up.

Annual Fundraiser
Saturday June 20th, 2026
All Day
Milk Money Brewing
La Grange
Held in the Summer at Milk Money Brewing in La Grange, this is GGGLG’s biggest event for raising funds to help us build upon our mission. It is an all-day event, where our community is invited to have a meal where the restaurant donates a portion of the proceeds, bid on silent auction items, or take part in our raffles.
Volunteers are asked to help by setting up, selling raffle tickets, monitoring silent auction items, helping to process prizes, and clean up.

Summer Expo
Saturday, August 8th, 2026
11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Plymouth Place
La Grange Park
Our Expo is a great opportunity for our community members to meet with a broad spectrum of organizations with a common goal: sustaining our planet. These organizations join GGGLG for an afternoon of sharing ideas and helping attendees learn how to live sustainably.
Volunteer tasks include: set-up, outreach (working GGGLG table), greeter, venue liaison, tech support, kid zone coordinator, photographer, tear-down.

Native Plant Sale
Saturday, September 19th, 2026
Time TBD
Memorial Park
La Grange Park
The end of Summer is a great time to think about planting new natives to help our local environment and pollinators. The cold, moist winters in Illinois create the perfect condition for the plants to germinate in the Spring.
GGGLG acquires quality plants for sale to the community, and at the same time, provides an opportunity for community members to get together to learn and share best practices. Our 2025 event was responsible for introducing over 300 new plants to our area.
Spring of 2026 will prove to be even more beautiful this year. Help us keep that momentum going.
Volunteers are asked to: help with set-up, assist shoppers, wrap plants, and clean-up.
